Alabama Legislation HB 288 Student Loan Reimbursement for Athletic Trainers and Athletic Training Incentive Grant


⚕️ HB 288 - AT Loan Assistance

Seeks to expand the Alabama Math and Science Teacher Education Program (AMSTEP) to include loan assistance for licensed athletic trainers. The bill authorizes the Alabama Commission on Higher Education to provide financial support to eligible athletic trainers who meet specific criteria.


Loan Assistance Details:

Eligible applicants can receive up to $7,500 per year worked or $3,750 per semester worked, for a maximum of four consecutive years.


This initiative aims to support athletic trainers in managing student loan debt while encouraging their continued service in educational institutions across Alabama.


⚕️ ACT 2023-341 - AT Incentive Grant

The Alabama Board of Athletic Trainers is excited to implement the Athletic Trainer Secondary School Incentive Program with grant awards beginning the 2024-2025 school year. This grant provides up to a $7500 stipend to eligible Athletic Trainers (AT) that work with rural secondary schools in Alabama.


Rural is defined by the legislation (ACT 2023-341) that created this grant as a school not located within an urbanized area of more than 50,000 people. Secondary school is defined as any rural, A1, A2, A3 and Title I school providing education to stSudents in sixth through twelfth grade
