The Core Misunderstanding of National Organizations

Let’s be clear:

The National Athletic Trainers' Association is a resource.

Not a rescue system.

It can:

✔️ Advocate nationally

✔️ Publish standards

✔️ Provide education

✔️ Create connection

It cannot:

❌ Negotiate your salary

❌ Fix your workload

❌ Change your employer

❌ Solve your daily operational problems

That work happens at the:

➡️ Individual level

➡️ Employer level

➡️ Local system level

If you expect national solutions for local problems, you will always feel like nothing is changing.

The more you believe change comes from the top, the less you act at the bottom.

That’s where athletic trainers get stuck.

Expansion of problems at the ground level

Burnout, compensation gaps, role ambiguity, and workload issues are hyper-local problems:

🎯 Your employer sets your salary

🎯 Your school or clinic sets your staffing model

🎯 Your state determines licensure laws

Yet many ATs look upward expecting national-level fixes for local-level constraints. Getting involved at the local level can help provide more personalized support and action in changing circumstances.
