I’m not sure why athletic trainers continue to make broad salary comparisons to “all” physical therapists or “all” allied health professionals.

Athletic trainers should focus on more specific, local comparisons. For example, when comparing salaries at the college level, it’s more relevant to look at similar roles, such as those at student health centers. Nurses in these settings earn between $75k and $91k on average, PAs make around $118k, and doctors range from $129k to $299k. High school nurses are typically around $90k.

Instead of making blanket salary comparisons across unrelated fields, let’s narrow the scope to more appropriate local benchmarks and job responsibilities. This approach will provide clearer, more actionable comparisons.
