10 Month Positions

As athletic trainers, have we considered the implications of how many college and high school settings offer only 10 month positions and how this is considered in the piece of the compensation calculation debate?

As a medical professional I feel this is another piece of the perceived “bending over backwards” with an ATs availability to perform job duties within a condensed time window for an organization. Technically an athletic trainer is losing access to work in the window where an AT has time to deliberate and concentrate on the tasks that get in the way during the school year.

Why would an AT take a 10-month position?
